Getting publicity for your event may be easier than you think. It's as simple as knowing what you have to offer and finding local contacts who have similar goals - and assigning the right member of your committee to manage promotion.  Click on the hyperlinks below to see some examples.

There are several ways you can feature your organization and your local sponsors and provide them with coverage before and during the event.  The first is to assign someone on your committee to manage communications with the media before, during and after the event.  There is a presentation you can share with them.

While US SAILING will help you with national coverage, you are best placed to know who the local members of the press are.  During the regatta itself, the Daily Report is something both press and supporters will turn to find out the results and all the news. It’s important that US SAILING has the current list of skippers and crew in case alternates or crew changes have occurred.  Having photographs of the day’s racing is an important component of this daily update.  Create a press package and even a media day on the final day of racing where the local press can come out and interview the winners.

Another element is US SAILING's podcast.  If you can send five or ten minutes of digital video to US SAILING, chances are excellent that your championship will be featured.

The development of your program is another tool you have.  US SAILING has developed the covers for each championship's program which have the national sponsors logos and advertisements already in place.  There is an easy-to-use template available which will let you customize the interior and has place holders for local sponsor ads.

We're not only available to help, we look forward to helping you start early on a successful promotional program for your event.
